Mikel scores 4th goal in 300 games •Shocker for Man U, out of FA Cup

NIGERIAN international John Obi Mikel was on song for Chelsea yesterday in the 2-0 win over Derby County in a third round FA Cup game at at the iPro Stadium, Derby.

It was the fourth goal by Mikel on his 300th appearance in the colours of the Blues.

The 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winner had taken over the captain’s band from fellow African Michael Essien in the 55th minute, before he put his side ahead 11 minutes later with a glancing header off Willian’s cross.

Oscar made it two in the 71st minute with a bending shot to seal Chelsea’s 16th successful victory in the third round of the FA Cup. Mikel gunning for the Glo-CAF African Player of the Year award it will be recalled last scored for Chelsea in September last year against Fulham in a league game which also ended in 2-0.

Chelsea face Stoke in the fourth round at Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, Manager David Moyes watched helplessly from the sideline as Manchester United lost 1-2 to Swansea City to crash out of the FA Cup.

Swansea shot ahead through Wayne Routledge before Javier Hernandez drew parity before half time off Alex Buttner’s cross.

Wilfried Bony scored the winner for the visitors in the 89th minute.
